Here is breakfast. Using a Nikon DX40X with a 35mm 1.8f. Processed using ON1 Photo RAW.
Yes, you read that right. I didn’t use Lightroom this time around.
I’m currently experimenting with ON1 Photo RAW. The main reason is that I have decided to stop using the subscription model that Adobe uses. So, that will also apply with my usage of Photoshop and Lightroom which has been used a lot on my regular workflow.
I haven’t paid for it yet because I’m still experimenting the application. But so far it has been impressive. I’m considering this because it’s currently half the original price. Original price is US$99 (est PhP5,009) while it’s now at US$45 (PhP2500) during this Spring Sale. I’m not really sure how long the sale will last though.
ON1 Photo RAW also supports dual monitor setups which helps me a lot.
Since I’m still on the early stages of experimenting the app, I really can’t make a full review. But I have tried a lot of alternatives that are free like RawTherapee. Another possible application is Capture One but it’s really expensive (US$299 or PhP15,150) compared to ON1 Photo RAW.
Both applications are one time payments and you keep the application forever. I can still say that ON1 Photo RAW is not as efficient as Lightroom Classic, but it works and it’s easy to use to the point that I kind of enjoy using it. But I do miss a few features of Lightroom.
You can try out the free trial version of ON1 Photo RAW. It’s free for 30 days.
